Fun Run FAQs

When is my student participating in the Fun Run?

Students will participate by grade levels.

The 2025 schedule is as follows:
9:30-10:15am — Grades 4 &5
10:30-11:15am — Grades 2 & 3
1:30-2:15pm — Grades K & 1

(Note: The actual running portion of the event lasts 20 minutes.)

Will I be able to volunteer?

Yes, we will need many volunteers for the day of the event. All volunteers must be approved in advance through Beaverton School District’s new Raptor system (even if you have volunteered in prior years). Learn more or complete a volunteer application here.  Be on the lookout for an email from our Volunteer Coordinator with information about volunteer sign-up. Volunteers should check in at the field.

Can I watch the event as a spectator?

We strongly encourage all spectators to sign up in advance via ParentSquare to watch their child(ren) at the Fun Run (you can also sign up grandparents or other visitors who plan to attend). Visitor badges will be pre-printed and distributed upon arrival for everyone who pre-registered. Those who do not sign up ahead of time (by EOD Sept. 24) will need to check in at the front office on the tablet before attending the Fun Run.

A designated spectator area will be set up at the Fun Run where you can watch and cheer on all of the runners.

Where does the event take place?

Students will run laps on the lower field at Cedar Mill Elementary. Note that part of the area where students will run is the dirt surface of the baseball field and it may cause your child’s shoes to get dirty.

What should my child wear?

All students will receive a new Cedar Mill Elementary t-shirt the morning of the event. Most students wear this shirt over their existing clothing. This year’s t-shirt will be cobalt blue with a white logo. Feel free to encourage your child to dress in our school colors, blue and yellow!

We recommend having your child run in shoes that are able to get dirty, and sending a second pair of shoes/socks to change into after the event, especially if rain is forecasted.

Does my child have to run the entire time? How many laps is typical?

Students can choose to run, jog or walk. Most kids complete 10-15 laps in 20 minutes.

How can I donate to the fundraiser?

  1. Donations are collected through our online fundraising platform, Pledgestar. Encourage your students to collect online pledges from friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers.

  2. Check with your employer to see if they match donations. If you choose to make your donation directly through your company’s corporate giving site, please email waysandmeans@cedarmillptc.org with your child(ren)’s name(s), teacher(s) and donation amount so your donation can be counted with the Fun Run total.
